Mauritian Green Gecko Lizard face close up
Telephoto face close-up of the famous Green Gecko Lizard, endemic to Mauritius Island
As I was looking at him and noticed he was focusing me instead of just escaping, I thought this could become a rare opportunity to capture a detailed view of this extremely reclusive animal. While I was busy with getting the tele lens ready without making hectic moves, I was asking myself who would have the better view of what was happening - my tele lens or this stunning reptile that measured about 17-20 cm in length and continued to just watch me. After the shot, I learned that he has a fixed lens within each iris that even adopts to any light conditions, so at this distance of roughly 5 meters he will probably have seen things we cannot even imagine.
